POLITICALLY EXPOSED PERSONÂ (PEP)
Someone who is powerful & influential by virtue of holding a prominent position in a public office, can present a higher risk of potential involvement in corruption.
The definition of PEP also includes close connections to the PEP such as their family members, relatives, associates or aides from the same office as the PEP, other business or close associates & close friends.
COMPLIANCE PROGRAM
The culture of compliance to anti-bribery & anti-corruption (ABC) principles set out in an organisation's ethics & compliance program can be cultivated by mobilising a written code of ethics, training & communicating, according the responsibility to every employee on adhering to laws, policies, procedures & administering controls.
GREASE PAYMENTS
A grease payment is made to expedite an official action that a front-line officer of any public body is bound to perform. When such a payment is being made routinely or in a bolder manner, eg. to a higher-ranking official, more frequently or of higher value, it develops into a pattern of bribery.
Facilitation payments should not be made an exception to the intent to bribe.
WHISTLEBLOWER
A whistleblower can be an insider of or an external party who may or may not be associated to an organisation, who comes forward to disclose any improper conduct that they reasonably believe is occurring in the organisation.
Organisations can classify what conducts are deemed improper to encourage a whistleblower to report an allegation in good faith. Improper conducts are precisely that - illegal, unethical or violating the company's business code.
